Ex-Dresden Kings forward Kyle Dawson scored twice Wednesday as the London Nationals earned a berth in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Western Conference final.
The Nationals beat the LaSalle Vipers 7-2 in London to win their semifinal in five games.
Dawson is the Nationals’ captain.
The Komoka Kings are one win away from joining the Nationals in the final.
The Kings lead the top-seeded Flyers 3-1 in their semifinal going into Game 5 on Thursday in Leamington.
Lancers 2-0 at OFSAA curling
The Ursuline Lancers won their first two games at the OFSAA boys’ curling championship Wednesday in North Bay.
The Lancers – lead Caden Rivard, second John Pumfrey, vice Austin Haddock and skip Alex Jeromel – beat Niagara Falls A.N. Myer 7-3 and King City 8-3.
They’ll also face Whitby Brooklin, Barrie Eastview and New Liskeard Sainte-Marie in pool play, which ends Friday.
The quarter-finals are Friday. The semifinals and medal games are Saturday.
Red wins Maple City hockey title
Mike Flanagan had a hat trick and Mike Johnston scored twice for Red in a 7-3 win over White in the Maple City Hockey League championship game Tuesday at Erickson Arena.
Corey Benjamin and Hudson Mallett also scored for Red, which led 2-0 after one period and 5-3 after two. Tomas MacInen had three assists.
Nate Pietens, Curt Lemieux and Trevor Richardson scored for White.
