Tartans win two titles
WALLACEBURG – The Wallaceburg Tartans won the LKSSAA ‘AA’ junior and senior girls’ basketball championships Thursday.
Laura Marcus scored 14 points in the senior final for a 60-17 win over the Lambton Central Lancers at Wallaceburg District Secondary School.
Megan McCarter added 11 for the Tartans.
The Tartans beat the Great Lakes Wolfpack 49-27 in the junior final.
Cardinals win crown
BLENHEIM – The Lambton-Kent Cardinals edged the Blenheim Bobcats 42-39 in the LKSSAA ‘A’ senior girls’ basketball final Thursday.
Megan Monroe scored 16 points and Chloe Kingsbury added 11 for the Cardinals at Blenheim District High School.
Kristyn Kistulinec led the Bobcats with 20 points. Emma Park scored seven.
In the junior final, the visiting North Lambton Eagles beat the Bobcats 42-25.
Anna Kistulinec scored 11 points for the Bobcats and Katelynn DeBrouwer had five.
The Eagles led 12-6, 20-11 and 30-17 at the quarters.
Boys’ volleyball finals
Six LKSSAA boys’ volleyball championships will be awarded Friday.
The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks host the defending champion Ursuline Lancers in the ‘AAA’ senior final at 7 p.m.
The Lancers and Hawks also face off in the ‘AAA’ junior final at 5 p.m. at Chatham-Kent.
The McGregor Panthers host both ‘AA’ finals. They play the Lambton Central Lancers for the junior title at 5 p.m. and welcome the Great Lakes Wolfpack for the senior final at 7 p.m.
The Chatham Christian Flames host the Pain Court Patriotes in the ‘A’ senior final at 4:30 p.m. The Flames have won two straight LKSSAA senior titles and the Patriotes won the last two junior crowns.
The Blenheim Bobcats host the St. Francois-Xavier Chevaliers in the ‘A’ junior final at 4 p.m.
The LKSSAA ‘AAA’ senior football semifinals are Friday.
The second-seeded Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks play St. Patrick’s at 4:30 p.m. at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex.
The Ursuline Lancers visit top-seeded and undefeated Northern at 6 p.m. at Sarnia’s Norm Perry Park.
