Peewee Diamonds win opener at OBA championship

The host Chatham Diamonds beat the Seaway Surge 11-8 in Friday’s opening game at the Ontario Baseball Association major peewee ‘AA’ championship at St. Clair College’s Chatham Campus.

The Diamonds will play the London Tecumsehs in the second round at 8 a.m. Saturday at the college.

The 12-team, double-knockout tournament ends Sunday.

Also Friday, the Diamonds lost to Stratford 18-3 in their opening game at the OBA rookie ‘B’ championship at Jaycee Park.

The Diamonds face a must-win game in the second round at 8 a.m. Saturday against Georgina.

The rookie tournament also ends Sunday.
