Dallas Maurovic had a hat trick and Brett Fisher scored twice in the Chatham Maroons’ 7-3 win over the Strathroy Rockets on Saturday.
Evan Wells and Zach Power also scored in front of 404 at West Middlesex Memorial Arena in Strathroy.
Kevin Linker made 31 saves as the Maroons ended their two-game losing streak while also extending their point streak to six games (4-0-0-2).
They sent 37 shots at Rockets netminder Joshua Diamond.
After a scoreless first period, the Maroons outscored the Rockets 3-1 in the second.
Maurovic scored early in the third for a 4-1 lead, but the Rockets replied with goals just over a minute apart by Zachary Berriault and Brandon Sanders.
Maurovic scored at 12:05 for a 5-3 lead.
Fisher added an empty-netter at 18:04 and Maurovic completed his hat trick on a power play with six seconds left.
Maurovic has seven goals in his last six games. Fisher has five goals in the past two games.
Former Chatham-Kent Cyclones forward Brendan Mairs scored the Rockets’ first goal.
The Maroons (20-16-1-9) are in fifth place in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Western Conference. They remain four points behind the fourth-place LaSalle Vipers, who beat the Komoka Kings 8-2.
The Maroons have four games left and the Vipers have three.
The Maroons will host the last-place St. Thomas Stars at 7 p.m. Sunday at Chatham Memorial Arena. Fans can skate with the players after the game.
