Lancers, Golden Hawks set up clash of unbeatens

The unbeaten Ursuline Lancers and CKSS Golden Hawks are tied for first place in the LKSSAA senior football league after picking up wins Thursday.

Ben Barnard scored three touchdowns in the Ursuline Lancers’ 51-0 win over the St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish in LKSSAA senior football Thursday.

Evan Torres threw two touchdown passes – 25 yards to Cody Boulley and 55 yards to Barnard – as the Lancers improved to 2-0.

Garrette Stonefish’s two touchdowns helped the Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks also improve to 2-0 by beating the Northern Vikings 28-25.

The Golden Hawks will visit the Lancers for sole possession of first place Friday, Oct. 4, at 3:45 p.m.

Lancers 51, Irish 0

At Ursuline, Barnard scored on 25- and 57-yard runs.

Darion Bacik-Hadden and Logan Stefina had TD runs of eight and two yards, respectively. Bacik-Hadden ran nine times for 130 yards and Stefina rushed for 60 yards.

Braydon Charbonneau scored on a 54-yard interception return.

Cam Creechan kicked six extra points and a 24-yard field goal.

Charbonneau led the defence with six tackles and two interceptions, Lucas Doyle and Trevor Lawton each made five tackles, Quinton Emerick had two interceptions and a fumble recovery, Barnard also picked off two passes, and Liam Wellman had a fumble recovery.

“We piled up over 500 yards of offence and forced eight turnovers,” Ursuline head coach Scott Morkin wrote to the Daily News. “It was a solid effort all around.”

Hawks 28, Vikings 25

At Sarnia, Stonefish rushed for 103 yards, including three- and 18-yard touchdowns.

Golden Hawks quarterback Ethan Jordan ran for a one-yard touchdown and threw a 45-yard TD pass to Cameron Marson. Jordan completed 14 of 17 passes for 207 yards.

Alex Pelekis and Isaac DaSilva each kicked two extra points.

Marson made four catches for 94 yards. Nolan Hill and Bennet Schaffer had two receptions apiece for 32 and 24 yards, respectively.

Alex Sullo, Jacob Graham and Pelekis each recovered a fumble for the Hawks. Jordan had an interception.
