LETTER: Pit bulls not bred to fight

I was shocked to see the letter about the move to end breed-specific legislation with the title, 'Pit bulls were bred to fight.' This is not accurate and there is absolutely no evidence to support such an outlandish headline.

While there are some tragic cases of pit bulls being bred to fight, this is a crime committed against the dogs, not a testament to their nature. In fact, these dogs are so eager to please their owners that they will take up the fight in order to please, not because they want to.

With all due respect to both sides of the argument, please consider the facts before publishing such inaccurate information.
