Woman charged after theft from Chatham gas station

A woman was charged Tuesday with theft and being in possession of property obtained by a crime after allegedly stealing from a Chatham gas station Jan. 6.

A 36-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged Tuesday with theft with a value less than $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime with a value less than $5,000 for allegedly stealing various items from a Chatham gas station Jan. 6.

She was identified through video surveillance after a theft from Petro Canada on Grand Avenue, Chatham-Kent police said.

She was released with a Feb. 16 court date.

Plates stolen

A woman told Chatham-Kent police Tuesday night licence plates were stolen from her parked vehicle on Thames Avenue in Wallaceburg.

About an hour later, an officer stopped a driver who had the plates on her vehicle on Main Street in Wallaceburg, police said.

A 33-year-old Wallaceburg woman was charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime with a value less than $5,000 and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences.

She was released with a court date.

Warrants executed

A 28-year-old Chatham man wanted for failing to attend court to provide a DNA sample was arrested and charged Tuesday with failing to comply with a court order. He was released with a Feb. 3 court date.

A 28-year-old Chatham man wanted for domestic-related offences and breaching his probation order was arrested Tuesday. He was remanded into custody until Friday.

A 51-year-old Chatham man wanted for failing to comply with his release conditions was arrested on the outstanding warrant after a traffic stop Tuesday in Chatham. He was also charged with driving without insurance and driving with plates not authorized for the vehicle. He was released with a Feb. 24 court date.

A 50-year-old Chatham man wanted in connection with several shoplifting incidents in Chatham was arrested Tuesday night after a report of an unwanted man on a Chatham business’s property. He was released with a Jan. 27 court date.
