Chatham-based brewery Sons of Kent came together with the community last month to help out the Shepherd’s Way Inn.
Through its El Camino Christmas event, non-perishable goods were collected, along with $546 in cash donations.
Doug Hunter, Sons of Kent co-founder, said the founders of the brewery, along with some support staff, come in on Boxing Day and tend bar and prepare some delicious chili.
“Every year, we choose a different charity to support,” he said in a release. “This year, we chose the Shepherd’s Way Inn as we believe Theresa, Marj, and Monette are doing great things in the community to help those in need throughout the year.”
Tim Copeland, another co-founder, said the day’s tip money was also donated in addition to non-perishable donations and cash.
Theresa Nadeau, founder of Shepherd’s Way Inn on King Street West, thanked everyone involved for their hard work and support.
“Without people such as yourselves in the community doing wonderful things, it would not allow us to do our work,” she said.
Hunter also credited customers for coming in on Boxing Day and “supporting our various charitable initiatives since we opened in 2017.”
