Rise in new COVID-19 cases slowing in Chatham-Kent

Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported Wednesday in Chatham-Kent as the municipality’s active caseload rose to 26.

There have been nine new cases this week – none Tuesday – after 39 were confirmed in the previous two weeks.

Chatham-Kent’s cumulative total is up to 419 cases.

One more recovery Wednesday raised the municipality’s total to 390. No one is hospitalized after two people were discharged Tuesday.

The outbreak at Blenheim’s Word of Life Church is down to 11 cases after one more recovery was reported Tuesday. Another outbreak in a congregate living setting still has five cases.

Six active cases stem from close contact with other cases. The cause is pending for two more cases and unknown for two.

Tecumseh and St. Anne elementary schools and Ursuline College Chatham no longer have active cases, leaving McNaughton Avenue public school as the only Chatham-Kent school with an active case.

Walpole Island has one active case. Sarnia-Lambton has five.

Middlesex-London reported 13 new cases as its active caseload increased to 59. Windsor-Essex County had three new cases, bringing its active caseload to 63.
