Police briefs: Man tasered during arrest

A Chatham-Kent police officer saw a man walking on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg late Sunday night wanted for mischief under $5,000, failing to attend for his fingerprints and failing to attend court.

As the officer placed the man under arrest, a struggle reportedly began, resulting in a Taser being used, Chatham-Kent police said.

A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters. He was held for bail.

E-bikes stolen from shop

Some time between Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., someone forced their way into the Chatham E-Bikes store on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

The stolen items included: a red and black Daymak EM2 e-bike valued at $3,800; a black EMMO bike valued at $3,000; a red Daymak e-bike valued at $2,000; a black Swann video surveillance hard drive valued at $200; 12 chargers valued at $100 each; a GPS device valued at $300; and loose change.

Public intoxication

On Sunday evening, police found an intoxicated man lying on the sidewalk on Richmond Street in Chatham.

The 49-year-old Chatham man was taken into custody for his own safety as he was unable to care for himself, police said.

He was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and held until sober.
