Chatham-Kent police are investigating a three-vehicle crash on Longwoods Road, just east of Louisville, that resulted in five people being sent to hospital on Friday.
Police said the crash occurred just before 8 a.m. Chatham-Kent EMS stated that paramedics assessed, treated and transported four critical patients and one moderately injured patient.
The CKPS traffic unit has taken over the investigation. Longwoods Road was closed for several hours between Centre Side Road and Lindsay Road.
Police said there was no further information available at this time.
Donald MacLellan, general manager for Chatham-Kent EMS/Medavie, credited emergency crews from all sectors on their co-operation.
“All teams collaborated to provide outstanding patient care, effectively use critical resources, and communicated effectively to support critical decisions,” he stated on Twitter.
