After satisfactory test results, officials have lifted the boil water advisory for residents in West Kent.

This includes the town of Tilbury and the surrounding areas of Coutts Line, Mint Line, Dashwheel Road, Baptiste Road, Jeannette’s Creek Road, Forbes Line and Tecumseh Line.

It also includes the community of Wheatley and the area between Tilbury and Wheatley west of Grove Road extending into Essex County.

Abnormal water sampling results with elevated bacteria levels led to the advisory on Wednesday as a precaution. It was later expanded to include the Wheatley area.

According to a media release issued Saturday afternoon, Chatham-Kent public health received the test results from the water samples taken on Jan. 7, Jan. 8, and Jan. 9.

“Tests conducted at the Ontario Water Testing Centre confirm the results were satisfactory,” the release stated. “Based on these results, the medical officer of health, Dr. David Colby, has rescinded the boil water advisory.”

Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to call public health at 519-355-1071.
