BALKWILL SCORES TWICE
TRENTON, N.J. – Senior catcher Larry Balkwill of Chatham hit an RBI single and scored twice for the Siena Saints in a 12-5 win over Marist in an elimination game Friday at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball tournament.
Balkwill was 0-for-3 in a 7-1 loss to top-seeded Rider in Thursday's opener.
Fourth-seeded Siena plays another must-win game Saturday in the double-knockout, four-team tournament.
DURSTON LEADS LEAGUE
Jordan Durston of the Wallaceburg Red Devils is the leading scorer in the Ontario Jr. 'B' Lacrosse League with 58 points in seven games.
He's also first in goals (24) and second in assists (34).
Red Devils teammate Mike Myers is the third-leading scorer with 40 points.
The Red Devils (6-2) are second in the Far West Division, one game behind the Windsor Clippers (7-1).
They'll take a five-game winning streak into Saturday's 7 p.m. game against the Elora Mohawks at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. They play Wednesday in Windsor.
HAVOC TWINBILL TODAY
The Kent Havoc invite new players to join their junior men's and women's under-18 rugby teams.
The Havoc men's teams practise Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Victoria Park. The women's teams practise Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.

The Havoc senior teams begin the Niagara Rugby Union regular season with a doubleheader Saturday at Victoria Park.
The women play the Norfolk County Harvesters at noon, followed by the men against the Waterloo County Knaves at 1:30 p.m.
The club is also hosting a 'Ruck Cancer' fundraiser. Donations will be collected for the Canadian Cancer Society.
COUGARS START SEASON
The Chatham-Kent Cougars begin the Ontario Football Conference season Saturday with three teams in action: senior varsity, bantam and peewee. The junior varsity team has a bye.
The Cougars visit the Hamilton Hurricanes in a senior varsity game. Their home opener is Saturday, June 1, against the Brantford Bisons at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex at 7:30 p.m.
The Bantam Cougars are also in Hamilton, while the Peewee Cougars host the Bisons at 7:30 p.m. at the athletic complex.
JR. DIAMONDS LOSE
Chatham Junior Diamonds pitcher Shawn Delanghe threw three scoreless innings in a 10-1 home loss to the Courtright Seniors on Wednesday.
Cody Wilkins scored the Diamonds' only run.
ADMIRALS IN JR. 'C' LOOP
The new Amherstburg team in the Great Lakes Jr. 'C' Hockey League will be known as the Admirals.
The former Kingsville Comets moved to Amherstburg in the off-season after years of dwindling attendance.
The Admirals' colours are dark blue, light blue and gold.
